Lead Adventure Miniatures - LAF Forum Personalities - Corto Maltese

I've been a long time member of the Lead Adventure Forum, and a recent post there prompted members to paint something up for the 20th anniversary. I decided to dig out a few Lead Adventure personalities I hadn't painted (Hammers and Matakishi), as well as a Corto Maltese miniature that was given as a gift to forum moderators.

Left to right- Professor Witchheimer, Plynkes, Hammers, Matakishi, Grimm, and Corto Maltese.

Battlefleet Gothic Transports and Defense Monitors

Not sure why but I've always liked the undergunned, vulnerable civilian vessels in Battlefleet Gothic. Regular folks just trying to make a living caught up in a sector-wide war.

These are all Soul Forge Studio designs, printed on a Mars2Pro. They came up with a neat little modular setup for these.

Also painted up two defense monitors and an escort carrier to help defend the Ophatran system from pirates.

Battlefleet Gothic Asteroids Field Celestial Phenomena

Having recently taken up Battlefleet Gothic again, I started knocking out celestial phenomena because I can't seem to play a game without having nice terrain. First up, some asteroids.

I bought a pack of railroad talus rock that was a dull sulpheric yellow, which I thought might be a neat change from the grey-white-beige one might typically see. I then cut up some insulation foam into asteroid shapes. I mixed up a yellow to match and painted the asteroids with the idea that I can scatter the talus around to fit the shape of the field on the table, or use a template so that we can move the asteroids around but still have a defined area.

The bases are thin circular wood disks I bought at a hobby store, and the stems are Plastruct 1/16th clear rods. I drilled a hole in the bases, painted them, and glued the rods in place with superglue. The asteroids are attached with Elmers white PVA. I glued a few pieces of the talus directly to some of the bases.

I also made an asteroid base station, pretty much a copy of the one I had in the 90s, but better :)

I also wanted a wrecked escort in the field. I found a simple one on Thingiverse, modified it using Meshmixer, then printed and painted it.

Quite happy with these asteroids, much better than the ones I had back in the olden days.

Dark Elves - Oldhammer 3rd Edition Fantasy Battle - Dark Sea Shields

Several months ago I was approached to 3d model an old Dark Elf shield for a guy. I'm assuming he wanted to make a full unit with the same shield. It was a pretty quick job, and I got to thinking maybe I could do a few more "Dark Sea" themed shields.

After clearing out months of commission work, I got down to painting the miniatures to go with them. I think four of these are old 2nd/3rd edition Citadel and three are Marauder.

I based the colors for the Dark Elves off this album artwork by Rodney Matthews:

The "Dark Sea Shields" are available as STLs on my Cults3d page.
