Kal Jericho - Black Library Limited Edition

I picked up a limited edition Kal Jericho a few months ago, after someone pointed out that he showed up in the 54mm "Inquisitor" range. Since I have vowed to complete all of the 28mm Inquisition and Henchmen GW have released, he seemed like a technical inclusion I couldn't neglect.

This is the first of three different versions GW has released of this Necromunda character. Hope to have them done before the end of the year!

40K Citizens - Nobles - Civilians

A few more new arrivals in the Hive City.

"Tak" from RNEstudio, printed on a Mars2Pro.

Inquisitor Servant (3d print) from Heresy Labs, and Lord Maximilian Kroize by Artel W.

Civilian from Mason's Miniatures,  Man with Kids from Vae Victus (3d print).

"Death" from Gardens of Hecate.

 Inquisitor Orazio Ghozen (3d print).

Two civilians, joined by the "Old Cleric" from Vae Victus (3d print).

Ashes of Faith - Inquisition Kill Team

I was excited and slightly dismayed to see that Games Workshop released an Inquisition Kill Team in the Ashes of Faith box set in May 2023. Excited because I love the Inquisition range- I've been a major fan since the 90s with the Slaves to Darkness rulebook.

I was also dismayed, because I've been slogging along collecting and painting all the 28mm Inquisition models that have been released... and I'd just finished all of the henchmen and Inquisitors right before new release- a two and a half year project.

I was lucky to snag two copies of the box set so that I could complete all of the variants. As with many GW kits these days, a base model can be used to make two or more variants... in one particular annoying case, the only variant for the auto-savant was a barely visible face swap.

Anyway, after chipping away on them since May, here's the full set of Inquisition from the Ashes of Faith box set.

Servoskulls - Servo Tome - Horse Skull

I've been trying to keep up with my "ServoskullSaturday" project. Here are July and August.

The Servo-Tome is from the Ashes of Faith boxset with the Inquisition Kill Team.

Horse skulls show up a lot in Oldhammer art and miniatures- my favorite Chaos Renegade from Rogue Trader 40k was a horse skull chaos marine. I was a little surprised I hadn't made a servo-skull version of one. I started with an old GW skeletal horse head and added grenstuff for the mechanical bits.

Inquistion - Karamazov - All Inquisiton Released up to 5/23/2023

This post is the culmination of a three and a half year project- to paint every 28mm Inquisitor Games Workshop has produced to date. Since starting the project in January 2020, I tried to paint one Inquisitor per month, switching back and forth from the earliest release to the most recent.

Today, I finished Inquisitor Karamazov!

I ran into a few pitfalls along the way. Games Workshop released two Inquisitors (Draxus and Cartavolnus) while I was on the project. More problematic, I discovered I had forgotten about the Black Library limited edition Eisenhorn- it took a full year to track down a set and came down to “I know a guy who knows a guy”.

Lastly, I thought I had purchased Karamazov and had him stored, but it seems I was wrong about that, so I had to track down his metal version too.

In the meantime, I nabbed loose Eisenhorn and Silas Hand minis from eBay, so I have a single of them along with them placed in their dioramas.

The real kicker is I can only say I have painted all the GW 28mm Inquisition for about three days, since they are officially releasing more in the new Kill Team box this Saturday... needless to say I am chagrined!!!

Daemonifuge - Ephrael Stern and Inquisitor Silas Hand - Black Library Diorama

In honor of this months "Inq28th" I finished painting up the Black Library limited edition Daemonifuge diorama I've had stashed for a couple of years. For some inexplicable reason I'd painted Silas Hand beforehand, several months back, and based him separately. I decided to put him where he belongs, on the diorama base with Ephrael.

The base has a pretty bad mold misalignment, straight through the middle of the text. I filed and rectified as best I could, but I didn't want to butcher the letters so decided to let it be.

Eisenhorn vs. Glaw Limited Edition Black Library Diorama

Those following my blog for a while may recall that a little over two years ago I started painting all of the Games Workshop 28mm Inquisition miniatures. I set a goal of one per month for "Inq28th", a day celebrating the Inquisimunda/Inq28 community, on the 28th of each month.

I ran into three or four snags along the way. The biggest setback was when I discovered my tally and collection of the models was not correct, and that I was missing a particularly hard-to-find set- the Black Library limited edition Eisenhorn vs. Glaw diorama. When I was reminded of the set, I also recalled having seen it on the website many years ago, and also recalled deciding to skip it because I wasn't a fan of the sculpts.

After realizing that I'd omitted it, I started the hunt immediately- stating my intention to buy a set on all the usual sites. Eventually I turned to a respected online acquaintance that posts rare figures fairly often (beautifully painted and converted I may add). He was able to provide me with the contact info of another collector, and after some discussion I was able to procure a set. All in all I was actively looking for well over a year!

Once in hand, I was struck by the similarities to the 54mm scale version of the character.

Anyway, long story short, here is my painted version of the Eisenhorn vs. Glaw set, limited to 500 sets, released around 2005. One of the last milestones in my quest!
