Bob Olley Samurai Orcs - Lead Adventure League - Round 6

This is a project long in the making. My round 6 LPL entry was "Bamboo Raiders", and was the last group of Samurai-inspired orcs I needed to finish to complete the set I bought around fifteen years ago.

 

The larger troll/oni I acquired a couple of years ago- but he's by Bob Olley as well, so fits right in.

The first  LPL I was in, in 2011, introduced this group:

This does it for my Samurai orcs and goblins army, a bunch of minis I bought for no reason other than I liked they way they looked.

Lead Painter's League 2018 - Round 6 - Bakemono Banzai

Round 6 of the 2018 LPL was more Bob Olley orcs and goblins with a samurai vibe. I think I've been working on these since my first LPL (roughly 2011).

Lead Painter's League 11 - Round 8 - Wolf Riders (and Refurbished Hills)

I realized that I haven't used my hills for quite a long time because they didn't match the play surface any more. Even though I have quite a few other projects in the works I decided to give them a good repaint and flocking. The small plateaus needed a little variety in the sedimentary layers as well.

 Before, stage one with textured paint, and final version with paint and flocking.

 When trying to decide what to photograph with them, I realized I neglected posting the final three Lead Adventure LPL entries to my blog. Round 8 was 'Wolf Riders'. They're all Bob Olley sculpts, although the shaman on the demon dog is from the Clan Wars range if I recall correctly.

I have owned the full set of Oriental Goblin Wolf Rider figures for many years. Originally sculpted by Bob Olley and offered on his site, they ended up going to Cavalcade miniatures- I have no idea where they can be purchased now. I picked them up right when they came out I liked them so much, but it has taken forever to finish them. I still have a few left!

The last pic shows the five from the recent LPL with their brethren, painted a few years ago. 

Sohei Warrior Monk and Japanese Terrain

This Sohei Warrior Monk (from Kingsford Miniatures) has been primed and awaiting paint for about two years.

The building was painted relatively recently. It is produced by John Jenkins Designs.

I also photographed a couple other Asian themed terrain items that I've never gotten around to, both by Grand Manner. The resin they use is very  brittle. I bought the bell tower second hand and the wooden structure arrived shattered into about a dozen pieces.

Lead Adventure League Round 1 - Samurai

My first entry in the 2015 ten week 'Lead Painter's League' was a group of Samurai from Kingsford Miniatures. They've been primed and shuffled around my desks for over a year now,  and because Round 1 was 'armor' theme for bonus points, it seemed obvious to do them. Samurai are all about the armor :)
