Gabriel Hounds - Crooked Dice Children of the Fields

I painted up four odd looking "Gabriel Hounds" from Crooked Dice's 'Children of the Fields' folk horror range. Not sure what the story is with these critters.

  1. I've seen a lot of allegedly gross and sinister models, but these are some of the creepiest sculpts I know. You've made a really nice job of them. I particularly like the pink ears!

    1. Appreciated :) Mostly just went with the examples on the website :)

  2. They do remind me of those somewhat silly somewhat creepy medieval dogs depictions! 😁 According to Shoggoth. net Gabriel Hounds would be English folklore dog-like beasts with children heads, and your color scheme suggests they can be related to the Welsh hellish hound “Cwn Annwn”! A very nice set of miniatures!

    1. Interesting, will certainly look them up. I actually thought I had a good handle on folklore from the Isles!

      Always more to learn :)

  3. They do remind me of medieval strange depiction of animals. White like this is a very good idea.

    1. Thanks! Lions ans cats often had human like faces, I'll have to track down some medieval dogs now :)

  4. I like these. First thing I thought of when I saw these figures was the creepy, unexplained mutant dog thing that appears for a minute in the 80s remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers with Leonard Nimoy. Nice work on them!
