Oldhammer Style Squat Mining Survey Expedition

I've had some squats prepped and ready for priming for a couple of months, and decided I had better get to them. As usual, it takes so long for me to do a thing, GW goes ahead and re-releases the faction. The latest batch is a mix of Black Tree, a Kromlech medic, an old GW squat from the Rogue Trader era, and a new squat on a powerboard from Satyr Art Studio.

They are joining my existing group which is mostly Rogue Trader era miniatures, with two from Astropolis, some dome robots from a Facebook group, a big warbot from Satyr Art Studio, and a pilot from Simtac.

Squat Mining Crew - Mining Robots - Astropolis

When I was looking for some Squat crew for my mole mortar mining group, I made a trade for two crew that originally came with a Thudd Gun. When I primed that last group, they hadn't arrived yet. I knew if I didn't get to them soonish it would be a long time.

 

I also dug out some robots I picked up from the Emporium of Rogue Dreams Facebook group and modified two of them into mining bots, using Kromlech bionic arms. The original stock version is painted in an Adeptus Mechanicus scheme. I also painted two squats from the Lead Adventure 'Astropolis' range, and a diminutive character that I believe is from Simtac. He's clearly not a Squat but is such a good pilot, the rest don't ask :)

 

 

The full group so far. I have a dozen or so more soldier types to add later.

 

 

40k Adventurers - Squat Miner - Engineer - Mole Mortars - Shorty

I'm about two months behind on my 40K Adventurers project, but still chipping away. Up for perusal is the Squat Miner and Engineer from the Adventurers range, along with a couple mole mortars they use for surveying, a ratling security guard ('Shorty', from the Mercenaries range) and a Squat crewman.

I had a hard time coming up with a color scheme for them, which was why it took me so long to get around to committing. I ended up using an old Rogue Trader illustration, along with the box art from the 1970's TV show 'Electric Company'.
