Here's my round 9 entry for the LPL, "Warriors of Doom".
The warriors these miniatures represent are likely recognizable to fans of a certain sword-and-sorcery barbarian film (which may be my all time favorite movie). These are available from Forge of Doom.
I don't really have a project in mind for these, but I can see them showing up in games of Rangers of Shadow Deep.
Very striking models, the facial expressions and poses are really good. As always, brilliant work with the brushes.
ReplyDeleteThanks, they were 'must buy' figures for me :)
DeleteAmazing work. I also got them, I'd love to achieve half of the fantastic quality of this paintjob! :O
ReplyDeleteThanks! The detail on them is pretty good, truth told I used a lot of washes and even some GW Contrast on these :) They painted up quite fast.
DeleteSome of these are contrast paints? Which ones? They seem a bit richer than what I have accomplished with contrast.
DeleteI like most of the browns and the Templar Black. The black isn't super dense, so it's good for leaving gray tones. I also use the contrasts for spot detailing (which isn't how they're meant to be used, but oh well :) ). The browns I use the most are Cygor, Wyldwood, Skeleton Horde, and Aggaros Dunes. Sometimes I'll use a darker one on the bottom of something and a lighter one on the top, so to get some shading going.
DeleteAs always wonderful work Matt. I was surprised you didn't include the henchman with the large mall. The face he made when he missed Conan and broke the pillar made me laugh out loud at the theater. I will not achieve your excellent likeness of the characters but I will have to buy those myself now...
ReplyDeleteThanks! I debated on including Thorgrim... I might save him for next year's LPL. That was a crazy scene!
